Research Areas

Polymeric Liquid Crystals. Chemical concepts are introduced and exploited to tailor new liquid crystalline polymeric materials to understand basic structure/property relationships and meet demands of industrial applications

Mechanical characterization of polymeric materials. Fundamental and applied studies on hydrogels, block copolymers, polyesters, polyacrylates, networks and nanocomposites

Nanocomposites. New nanostructured materials based on commodity polymers and tailor-made organophylic clays

Polymer nanoparticles and dispersions. Nanoparticles with new architectures, especially core-shell type particles and their dispersions are prepared for applications in structural parts and functional polymers

Chemical reaction engineering: radical and catalytic controlled processes. Synthesis of new materials by living or controlled anionic, cationic and free radical processes

TPO and TPV elastomers. Synthesis and thermomechanical characterization of polyurethane-based elastomers with nanostructured morphology

Injection molding and compression cutting technologies. Injection molding simulation and rheological aspects related to the cutting-compression technology.

Prof. M. Laus is author of 164 papers in International Journals and 8 patents.
