Mobile Device Forensics
This project is about the forensics analysis of mobile devices (like smartphones and tablets). There are two main research activities:
-
The study and the design of methodologies for the forensic analysis of artifacts generated on such devices by mobile applications (like instant messaging applications). These methodologies must ensure the full repeatability of the experiments so that the obtained results can be validated by a third-party.
-
The design and the development of tools that are able to apply the above methodologies to automatically identify and analyze the artifacts left by mobile applications in order to obtain forensically relevant information.
